What if GeForce RTX 4000 cards have been waiting in warehouses for over a month?
Store next-generation graphics cards until stocks of the previous one run out. Really ?

This is the rumor of the moment in the world of graphics cards as we impatiently await the keynote from Jensen Huang, boss of NVIDIA, at the beginning of next week.

Storage since August
Since the beginning of the summer, it has been said that NVIDIA has already started producing the RTX 4000 generation of GeForces and that some partners have even had cards since August.

A rumor that is now reinforced by the comments of our colleagues from TweakTown. Thus, Anthony Garreffa specifies that according to his sources, NVIDIA would store its new generation cards pending their marketing.
A storage in good and due form which would have started in August and is therefore continuing quietly on the side of Chinese wholesalers while waiting for the green light from NVIDIA.

RTX 4080 and RTX 4090
To support his statements, Anthony Garreffa speaks of “well-informed source in connection with Taiwan” and specifies that according to her, the stocks concern both GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, for the latter in 12 GB and 16 GB.

He points out that the first echoes of deliveries to Chinese GPU wholesalers dated back to July and that today the most insistent rumors confirm that next week the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 12/16 GB will be announced, precisely therefore those currently in stock.

The marketing of these cards would begin in October, but nothing has filtered concerning the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060. If the first has been mentioned several times, the second does not seem to be talking about it before, at best, the CES 2023 in Las Vegas.

Finally, note that the storage of graphics cards by NVIDIA is not so surprising if the marketing takes place in October. We don’t know how soon these cards will arrive, and NVIDIA may just be making sure they have enough for launch.

Another hypothesis that obviously cannot be ruled out is the possibility that NVIDIA has postponed the announcement and launch of the RTX 4000s to give some time to the RTX 3000s, whose stocks are still high. It’s up to you to choose your favorite explanation.
